IGNITE ELIGIBILITY

C3 IGNITE 2023 Eligibility: All parish, archdiocesan, and private catholic elementary and high school locations within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles that meet robust broadband communication infrastructure requirements through the C3 E-rate Category Two Consortium or equivalent, may apply for the program grant. Schools that have already been granted devices as a part of a previous cohort may re-apply. However, preference will be given to schools who have not previously participated. Applications will be reviewed on a first come, first serve basis. A school location is eligible to participate in the C3 IGNITE Grant Program, as long as they meet specific infrastructure and connectivity conditions listed below.

Infrastructure & Connectivity Requirements: All school locations applying for devices from the C3 IGNITE Program are required to meet the following minimum operational infrastructure and connectivity standards prior to or in the process of at time of submitting an application:
   1.   Apply for and receive a California Teleconnect Fund (CTF) monthly Internet discount.
   2.   Apply and receive an E-Rate Category 1 monthly Internet discount.
   3.   Have an infrastructure capable of supporting the usage of the devices in the classroom. (This condition related to E-rate   
         Category 2 for Infrastructure.) Have an in-school point of contact that will appropriately manage the devices.
   4.   Schools need to submit an online application.
   5.   Consider the number of devices to request.

NOTE: If any condition is in process, a projected completion date will need to be provided before any application will be reviewed and considered for C3 IGNITE Grant Program and the condition will need to be completed before device delivery.

C3 IGNITE APPLICATION WEBINAR Information SESSION

Schools applying for C3 IGNITE Grant Program 2023 can attend the LIVE on-line application webinar information session. The information session will be via Zoom and either the principal or designated IGNITE point of contact is encouraged to attend the session. NOTE: This application window is for schools that are new to the program.

C3 IGNITE Device Grant Determination for Approved Applications: 
     1.  The devices that will be provided through the C3 IGNITE Grant Program will be Apple iPads.
     2.  The final number of devices awarded to schools will be determined by the total number of devices available, up to 100% of the core instructional staff and 80% of verified student enrollment. (THIS LIMIT HAS BEEN REMOVED SINCE THE 2020 COHORT - The new limit is 100% of verified enrollment.)
     3.  Eligible schools will request devices based on the enrollment of the school.
     4.  Student enrollment will be based on DCS certification of enrollment.
     5.  The C3 IGNITE Program currently does not provide 1:1 device allocation for any applying schools.​
     6.  Should enrollment numbers in grades TK-12 increase at any time during participation in the C3 IGNITE Program, additional devices will not be automatically provided by the C3 IGNITE Program.
     7.  All determination of grant funding is dependent upon the need of the school and the total number of requests.
     8.  A primary factor in the determination of grant awards, will also be whether or not a school can sufficiently support the number of devices requested.

Should enrollment numbers in grades TK-12 increase at any time during participation in the C3 IGNITE Program, additional devices will not be automatically provided by the C3 IGNITE Grant Program. All device allocation and determination of which schools will receive the C3 IGNITE Grant Program is dependent upon a school's request, their enrollment, previous participation in a C3 IGNITE Grant Program and the total number of requests. A primary factor in the determination of grant awards, will also be whether or not a school's infrastructure can sufficiently support the number of devices requested.

Delivery Date: Upon approval notification of the C3 IGNITE Grant, a delivery date based will be based on the school's preparedness to receive the devices. The school must meet all conditions prior to the scheduling of the delivery of the devices. The C3 IGNITE Team reserves the right to change and adjust the delivery should a condition not be met by the awarded school by the time chosen.
APPLICATION WINDOW DATES:
OPEN: TBD  Fall of 2022

CLOSE: TBD Fall of 2022

Delivery of Devices: 
Once the school completes all conditions a date will be determined:
     1.  Proof of receipt of device covers. (THIS CONDITION HAS BEEN REMOVED SINCE THE 2020 COHORT- Grant will include cases/covers)
     2.  Complete the C3 IGNITE 2022 Readiness Survey.
     3.  The first professional development session by the Designed for Learning and T-Mobile are completed and all remaining sessions are booked.
     4.  Expected delivery of educator and student devices will be Fall 2023.
The delivery date will only be scheduled after all conditions are satisfied.

SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PARTICIPATION
  1. School Location Readiness:
          a.  Educator device deployment will occur first, so professional development training will need to be scheduled immediately upon approval of grant.
          b.  Schools will schedule professional development with Designed for Learning.
          c.  Professional development training needs to occur prior to device deployment. The PD is designed to prepare teachers on how to better integrate the use of technology to support teaching and learning.
          d.  Principals will be able to discuss their C3 IGNITE application with C3 to assist in the application process.
          e.  School will be required to have a formal meeting with families that will use the IGNITE devices to inform them about the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). Families should receive a basic overview on how to use the device and how it can be used as a hotspot at home.
          f.  Each school principal and C3 IGNITE point of contact will participate in introduction and close-out meetings to discuss the program, promote collaboration, and share best practices.
         g.  School will participate in any online surveys to assess progress while in the C3 IGNITE Program.
         h.  All conditions need to be complete prior to the delivery of devices.

      2.  Device Ownership and “Useful Life”: 
          a.  Useful Life is a term that refers to the life-span of the device before it is replaced with more current technology.
          b.  Devices provided by the C3 IGNITE 2023 Grant Program are owned by the ADLA for the benefit of the school to which they are allocated.
          c.  It is the school’s responsibility to know the warranty policy and process regarding replacement devices.
          d.  Additional devices through the C3 IGNITE Grant Program is not guaranteed.

      3.  Additional Budgetary Considerations:
​          a.  Protective Covers - Prior to device deployment, every school will be required to have protective covers to prevent damage and ensure the security and useful life of the device.
          b.  Device Storage - Every school will be required to show secure storage cabinets or carts for device security and overnight charging while the devices are at the school location.
          c.  Technology Fee - C3 encourages schools to implement a “technology fee” for families or create a tech fundraiser.

      4.  Productivity Suite: The school will need to have and maintain their own domain name in order to get a productivity suite. (If the school have a website, the “domain name” is the name the school uses. For example: www.lacatholics .org, with school emails: phernandez@lacatholics.org.) This allows schools to get approved for Google, Microsoft or another productivity suite of apps for the classroom.

     5.  Mobile Device Manager (MDM): The awarded IGNITE devices will already be configured in the MDM Workspace One. This allows the schools to monitor and maintain the devices once received and distributed to students.

​​Schools need to schedule and plan for 12 hours of professional development with the Designed for Learning and include the tentative dates on the application. ​​​
