As part of the C3 Initiative, we invite teachers, catechists and leaders from our schools, parishes, cemeteries and mortuaries, the Seminary, and all our ministries to explore how technology can enhance our ministries and elevate your impact. Pete Mauro is a technology product leader and community organizer who founded Altadena Rising in response to the Eaton Fire. When residents were barred from the evacuation zone, Pete mobilized 20 volunteers who captured 20,000+ images over 100 miles, creating a custom mapping tool that delivered critical info to displaced residents. Under his leadership, Altadena Rising grew from emergency response to a platform for community healing—preserving narratives, supporting grief processing, documenting history, and building an open-source disaster-response toolkit.

At Nokia’s Global Innovation group, he developed an AR game, pioneering a Pokémon Go-style experience before its global debut. He also served as a wilderness first responder with the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team, completing 150 search and rescue missions.
